The Greasebus makes daily trips up to Mt Hood Meadows throughout the ski season, open to all skiers and snowboarders. Our vegetable oil fuel comes to us free of charge by donation from several Portland area restaurants. With the help of our sponsors and the fact that we aren’t affected by fuel prices, we’re able to charge just ten dollars per person for each round trip to Mt Hood. Simply sign up for the dates you’re interested in using our calendar below and meet up with the bus on the morning of your trip.

HOW IT WORKS:

The Greasebus service is first-come first-serve. We offer trips to the mountain seven days a week, pending at least 10 seats are sold. On the calendar below you can view how many riders are registered for any particular day by clicking on "Sign Up" in that date. The maximum capacity for the bus is 20 people, plus gear.

WHERE & WHEN:

At 8:00 each morning our bus leaves from the parking lot at Voodoo Donuts Too, located at 1501 N.E. Davis St, Portland, Oregon. There is plenty of diagonal public street parking on NE 16th and 17th so please don't park in the Voodoo lot.  For directions please click on the map to the right. After a full day on-hill, the bus departs from the Mt. Hood Meadows Parking lot at 4pm, arriving back at Voodoo around 6pm, weather and traffic permitting.

Thanks for a great season!

We look forward to riding with you again next year. Here's a quick little video to recap a day in the life of the Mt Hood Meadows Greasebus.

Greasebus Fleet Takes Form

Today we purchased two new buses to add to the Greasebus armada. We are very excited to get these beasts back to Portland and start in on the conversions. I drove one down from Seattle, which was pretty simple, but Pete is still on the road, driving the other one back from Missouri. I think he's probably somewhere in Colorado right now, but don't know for sure. These buses will head up to the Olympics to provide shuttle service to the masses of people that will be up there and then one bus will head down to Seattle. From there it'll start the Summit / Stevens Pass service, which we are very excited for. Keep an eye out for these wonderful machines somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.

Lost and Found

10 pounds of Macaroni and cheese found on the bus. This thing is seriously heavy. Who left this on the bus!? You can claim the bowl it came in, but the mac & cheese will soon be gone. Finders eaters.

Wind Chill

Today we got all the way up to Meadows only to find they were still on lockdown due to high winds. The only "lift" running was the magic carpet but regardless you couldn't see ten feet in front of you. On the way up to the hill i counted eight downed trees that had been toppled by the high winds. On the Meadows access road Chris and i had to get out to actually clear out a pine tree that had shattered onto the roadway. After an hour of hanging in the parking lot the group decided to head back to Portland. For the first time in Greasebus history we made a full trip with zero snowboarding. It was an adventure though and the bus did a great job of plowing through the snow, over ice and trees, while battling the powerful head-winds.

One of the many downed trees on Mt Hood today.

Clif Bar comes on as official energy bar sponsor

Just like the Greasebus, you too can be powered by organic soybeans, just grab a sample Clif Bar next time you ride the bus. Clif Bar has been supporting our greasy adventures long before the Greasebus was invented. They're always down to help a good cause that promotes alternative methods of transportation. With them on board we're able to keep our ticket prices low as well as feed you a little something on the way to and from the hill. Just picture this, it's 3:30 after a long day of snowboarding, your clothes are damp, you're tired and hungry with an hour and then some between you and a home cooked meal, all of a sudden the driver of the Greasebus hands you a Crunchy Peanut Butter Clif Bar to tide you over, now that right there is worth ten bucks in and of itself!

On the road again

Today the Greasebus made it's first run of the season up Mt Hood. It's great to be back in action and amazing how much snow there already is up there. This year we're working with a lot of schools, clubs and teams which is going to hinder the public service of the bus a bit, at least for now. We're looking to get a second bus so we can have one devoted to the private groups and the other devoted to the public 7 days a week.

Nike Snowboarding joins the Greasebus

We're happy to announce that Nike Snowboarding has come on as our official boot sponsor for the Greasebus. With their support we're able to keep our bus ticket prices low so that you can get to the mountain in a way that saves carbon emissions as well as a little cash. For the months of January, February and March we'll be doing two campus pickups at the Nike headquarters so staff members keep an eye out for those trips. In March we'll be taking a fifteen day trip around the Northwest with the Nike team for a story in Snowboarder Magazine. Thanks for the support Nike Snowboarding!
